Adult Therapy
Counselling sessions are 50-60 minutes long and happen face-to-face, by video-call or by phone. Counselling sessions aim to be a safe and private environment where you can openly discuss whatever is bothering you. A counsellor’s job is to be non-judgmental, to explore things from your point of view and understand what you’re experiencing. In sessions, we work together to:
Make sense of what’s going on
Process difficult emotions
Look for patterns
Break down problems
Look at how your past impacts the present
Find solutions
Set goalsNo two people’s counselling experience is the same, and counselling with different therapists will vary too. What counselling can help with:
Navigating relationships
Transitions and change
Loss and bereavement
Depression and low mood
Anxiety and panic attacks
Alcohol use
Self-harm
Suicidal thoughts
Trauma and adverse experiences
LGBTQIA+ issues (trans-affirmative; poly-friendly)
High Sensitivity
Issues related to autism and ADHD (neurodivergence-affirmative)
Living with chronic health issues
Recovering from abusive relationships
Stress and overwhelm
Teen Therapy
Counselling for teens is very similar to adult counselling. Counselling sessions are 50-60 minutes long and happen face-to-face, by video-call or by phone. Counselling sessions aim to be safe and private environments where you can openly discuss whatever is bothering you.Talking to a counsellor is not like talking to a parent or a teacher. It’s not their job to tell you what to do. It’s also important for the counsellor to keep what you say private, including from your parents.Starting counselling can be particularly daunting for young people, so there are means of making it easier - parents can stay for part of the session, and we might play games to get to know each other so it’s easier to talk - no sitting in awkward silence!Parent and family consultations can also be an option, particularly if the young person feels this would be beneficial, but the young person’s confidentiality would be maintained. What counselling can help with:
Navigating relationships
Exams, school and studying
Making decisions
Learning who you are
Transitions and change
Loss and bereavement
Depression and low mood
Anxiety and panic attacks
Self-harm
Trauma and adverse experiences
LGBTQIA+ issues
Neurodivergence issues
Stress and overwhelm
